Open PrintPilot and refresh the printer list after changing a printer or network connection.

COMMON ISSUES

Troubleshooting.

Open the issue that best matches what you are seeing.

A printer does not appear in PrintPilot

PrintPilot reads the printers installed on your Mac. First, confirm that the printer appears in System Settings › Printers & Scanners. If it is missing there, add it in macOS before refreshing PrintPilot.

If it is already installed, check that your Mac and printer are connected, then try printing a test page from another app before refreshing the list.

The default printer does not switch

Confirm that automatic selection is enabled. The printer you expect PrintPilot to choose must be available, included in automatic selection, and ranked above the other available printers.

If another app changes the macOS default printer at the same time, PrintPilot may update it again when printer availability changes.

The wrong printer is selected

Review the order of your printers in PrintPilot. The highest-priority eligible printer that is currently available should be selected. Move your preferred printer higher, or exclude printers that should never become the default.

A printer is shown as unavailable

Check that the printer is powered on and reachable from your Mac. For a network printer, confirm that both devices are on a network where the printer is accessible. For a USB printer, reconnect the cable and check its status in System Settings.
