Your data stays on your Mac.

PrintPilot is developed by Frederick Reverdin in Switzerland. The macOS app is designed to work locally on your Mac and to collect as little information as possible.

The PrintPilot macOS app does not collect, transmit, sell, rent, or share your personal data.

Information processed on your Mac

To provide its core functionality, PrintPilot reads information made available by macOS about printers configured on your Mac, including:

  • Printer system names and identifiers
  • Printer availability reported by macOS
  • The current default printer

PrintPilot uses this information only on your Mac to display your printers and select the most appropriate default printer. It does not inspect the contents of documents or print jobs.

PrintPilot also observes general network path changes so it can refresh printer availability when the network changes. It does not collect or store your Wi-Fi network name, IP address, location, browsing activity, or network traffic.

Information stored locally

PrintPilot stores the following preferences locally on your Mac:

  • Whether automatic printer selection is enabled
  • Whether printer notifications are enabled
  • Enabled or ignored printers
  • Printer priorities
  • Optional printer nicknames
  • The last successfully selected printer
  • Interface preferences

This information is stored using macOS system storage and is not uploaded to the developer or synchronized through a cloud service.

Notifications and Launch at Login

If you enable notifications, macOS may display the name of a printer when the default printer changes or becomes unavailable. Notification permission and notification history are managed by macOS.

If you enable Launch at Login, the setting is registered and managed by macOS. You can change these permissions at any time in System Settings.

Analytics and tracking

The PrintPilot app does not include analytics, advertising, tracking technologies, or third-party software development kits that collect data. It does not create user profiles and does not track activity across apps or websites.

PrintPilot uses the macOS unified logging system for local error messages. The app does not upload these logs to the developer.

Apple may independently process information related to downloading and running apps through the App Store or macOS, according to Apple’s own privacy policies and your device settings.

Data sharing

PrintPilot does not share data with the developer or with third parties because it does not collect data from your Mac.

Data retention and deletion

Your PrintPilot preferences remain stored locally until you change them or remove PrintPilot and its associated local data from your Mac.

You can revoke notification permission in System Settings > Notifications. You can disable Launch at Login in PrintPilot or in System Settings > General > Login Items & Extensions.

Because PrintPilot has no accounts, servers, or cloud storage and does not receive your data, the developer has no personal data to retrieve or delete on your behalf.

Children’s privacy

PrintPilot does not knowingly collect personal data from anyone, including children.

Changes to this policy

This policy may be updated if PrintPilot’s features or privacy practices change. The latest version will be published on this page with a revised “Last updated” date.
